Easy Ways to Stay Fit

Finding ways to stay fit and healthy can be SO difficult. Especially when your schedule seems to be super full of other responsibilities. If you read my last post about scheduling a busy life, you are well aware of how crazy my days and weeks can get. I get to my work at 7:00am and I don’t get home until about 7:30pm. Finding time to workout, cook healthy meals, and still have fun and have hobbies can be super difficult. Because of this, I consider myself an expert when it comes to finding easy ways to stay/get fit and be healthy…no excuses!

1.Drink your water

Those that work with me know this to be something I do…. excessively. Co-workers sometimes like to make fun of me for this, but in the end, I am confident in what I am doing. I try to drink a gallon of water a day. If you don’t normally drink a lot of water, maybe start with a little less… but definitely up your water intake. Drinking lots of water will help with bloating by flushing out toxins, help with hair growth, and even help clear up your skin! Not to mention, drinking a lot of water also helps you have more energy throughout the day.

2. Wake up earlier than everyone else

This one might sting a little, but wake up at least an hour before everyone else. This will allow you to get in a workout without any distractions. You can do an at home workout or go to the gym; whichever you prefer. But starting your day off with a good sweat-sesh would do wonders!

3. Plan out your meals

If you feel like you struggle eating healthy, this one is for you! Planning out your meals, meal prepping, and even writing a food log will help with this. Maybe you just have no idea what you are actually eating, start tracking everything that you eat and it will be SO eyeopening. I did this when I first started my fitness journey and it really helped me understand what I eat. After you have a good idea of what “normal” is for you, you can start planning out your meals to help you hit your nutritional needs. This also helps when you go to the grocery store you know exactly what you need for the week.

4. Take frequent “walk” breaks

Getting caught up in work can be a real problem. I love to add some walk breaks into my routine. Even if I am working on something, I give myself even just a 2-5 minute break to stretch my legs, walk around the building, do a few stretches….whatever to wake up my legs and get some more activity in my routine.

5. Treat yourself!

Okay….this one might be a little confusing, but I like to plan out when I give myself a little something fun. I have found that if I tell myself NO treats, then I end up binging and feeling like a failure. What I’ve been doing is doing something small every night or even every week (whatever you feel like you need) and that will help you have some “light” at the end of the tunnel and motivate you to stay strong until that! Some of my favorite things to snack on are a couple squares of dove chocolate, an alcoholic beverage (if you are of age, of course), a fun latte, and the list can go on!
