Travel Hair Care + Tools

I feel like I could talk about hair alllll day long. In another life, I would have been a hair stylist. Haha! Growing up, my sister and I used to always play with our barbie’s (and Bratz doll’s) hair. We even had those big mannequin heads where we would style, cut, and color their hair with sharpie. Did anyone else do this or were we just crazy? Fast-forward to now and I still love doing hair….but no more coloring hair with sharpie. I am always on the hunt for new ways to improve my hair’s health and new styling tools.

When it comes to traveling, there is nothing worse than using the hotel shampoo, conditioner, and blow dryer. I know they have products in there to help ya out, but I need to use the products that work best for my hair! Here are a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up while traveling to help your hair to look and feel FABULOUS anywhere.

Travel Hair Care Tips

1.Use your own blow dryer

There have been countless times that I’ve used the hotel blow dryer and it has either snagged my hair (split end central…so bad), damaged my hair, or left my hair CRAZY frizzy. Not to mention, those blow dryers are usually low quality, so what should take me 10 minutes to completely blow dry my hair ends up taking me 30 minutes. No one has time for that.

I am loving this blow dryer. It is a mini blow dryer so it is so easy to travel with! Some pros about this bad boy:

  • It is mini with the power of a full size dryer. No more waiting 30 minutes for your hair to dry!
  • High Compression Turbine Fan: In short, the air flow is amazing and concentrated. This allows your hair to dry faster, decreases the frizz, and makes it easier to style, especially when doing a blow out with a round brush!
  • Ceramic: This mini dryer emits a gentle, evenly distributed heat and generates negative ions to dry hair fast and keep your hair healthy and shiny! I usually have to put lots of hair products into my hair to decrease the frizz and make it look healthy, but because this blow dryer already has that technology, I don’t have to!
  • Light Weight: It felt like I was holding nothing when I was blow drying my hair! How amazing is that!?
  • Dual Voltage: This is SUCH a perk for those traveling to another country. This dryer can easily switch between 110v to 220v voltage. You can go anywhere in the world and know your hair dryer will work!! (praaiiisee!).
  • Inexpensive: It is under $30!

Look at that shine! No products were used besides a heat protectant.. AMAZING results.

2. Bring your trusted shampoo and conditioner

I will not use hotel shampoo and conditioner. It is usually the cheapest stuff on the market and will not leave your hair feeling good. It is so easy to find reusable containers to put your shampoo and conditioner in. I love these containers the most.

3. Pack hair oil

If you aren’t already using some kind of oil for your hair, you need to. It has changed the health and overall appearance of my hair. I have been using hair oil  for over a year now and love the effects it has had on my hair! I use it every day. Definitely worth the money if you ask me!

Here is a great one to try if you have never tried on before!

4. Sleep in a braid

You should do this honestly every night, but on vacation I think it is super important and very helpful. You aren’t home with all of your favorite products, so your hair is like screaming at you for help! Put some oil on your ends and sleep in a braid. This helps with tangling, ratting, and also might help you use less heat because you wake up with soft waves. Give it a try if you haven’t already!
