Hello, darlings and welcome to The Glamorous Blonde blog!!! I hope some of you have been noticing the small changes I’ve been incorporating onto my blog these past couple of weeks. This has been such an exciting time for my blog, but also such a scary time! While brainstorming the direction I wanted to take my blog, I definitely thought about my followers and what y’all would like. I sure hope none of you are mad about my blog name change. Please know, I’m still the same me and still going to be posting the same type of content!!
Why did I change my blog name?
My blog name needed to change. While The Glamorous Teacher will always hold a special place in my heart, it just didn’t fit me anymore. I’ve been juggling the idea of changing my blog name since I graduated college because I didn’t go into the classroom. My whole life, I thought all I wanted to do was be a teacher, more specifically, a high school teacher. I have always loved high school kids, inspiring students, being a role model, and of course organizing and continuously learning. So, while in college I got my degree in Secondary Social Studies education, thinking I would be a high school history teacher! In the back of my head, I also always knew I would love to coach dance, but I thought that would never happen and I should just do history…it was safer. So, when creating my blog name, I thought my blog would be a place for teachers to get outfit ideas, lesson ideas, and just be apart of a teaching community that isn’t afraid to be glamorous! Man, God must have just been laughing.
As many of you know, after college, I had the opportunity of working at a high school as an assistant drill team director while teaching all levels of dance during the day at the school. YES, I was a “teacher”, but I definitely was not a core content teacher. Y’all, I got to wear leggings everyday. After one year of working at that high school, I resigned in order to purse some other dreams.
Over the past year and a half, I have received COUNTLESS direct messages/emails/comments asking about school districts I like in Texas and would recommend, how to control an unruly classroom, great teacher outfit ideas, what subject I teach, etc. While I do have the knowledge for these topics, I kept feeling funny because I am not working at a school anymore. I DO still teach, but I just teach at a local dance studio. God has shown me these past 2 years that we can plan all we want, we can act like we know the direction of our life, but at the end of the day, only GOD knows that. While I love teaching and might go back to the classroom one day, my blog can’t be defined by that anymore.
Where did the name come from?
Well, as an ode to The Glamorous Teacher, The Glamorous Blonde just seemed like a natural fit. Key word: NATURAL. I have been blonde my entire life. My hair is naturally very light (thanks mom!). While my career may change, I KNOW my hair color won’t. Being a blonde is almost part of my personality. I also love talking about hair, doing hair tutorials, and all things beauty related.
Inspiration behind the Blog Re-Design?
Y’all like the new layout? Things are VERY similar and not a ton has changed. I wanted to ease the transition for all of us. I did, however, change the header of my blog and a few things here and there. My inspiration for my blog came from these 3 words: Simple, Editorial, Glamorous. What do you think?
See my new blog Icon? I thought it was PERFECT because the icon is a glam girl with some amazing hair. Since those two ideas are in my blog name, how perfect is that icon?! When thinking about branding my blog, I wanted to create something where if you saw an image, you immediately thought of Kelly Hoover on The Glamorous Blonde. Kind of like how Nike has a check mark and we ALLL know what that check mark symbolizes. In a way, I am trying to convert my online blog to become an online magazine!
What can we expect moving forward?
TONS of content, of course! Haha! I am working on making more a presence on YouTube, something that is way out of my comfort zone. Y’all see me talking on Instagram stories all the time, but YouTube is a whole other monster in itself.
