Chunky Cardi + Q&A

Chunky Cardigans are a MUST this time of year, and the pom trend is so big! When it comes to styling cardigans, I always opt for a basic pair of jeans and plain tank for underneath. I love a simple color palette. There are so many stores with great quality cardigans like this one, so I am going to list a few below if you want to shop one for your own wardrobe.

Life Updates and Q&A

Wow! I feel like I haven’t gotten on here and just been completely honest and vulnerable in a while! I get so many questions about what I do, exactly…which I totally understand because I feel like my career/life changes every few months it can be very hard to keep up with!

1. Are you back teaching high school?

Yes & no! Its kind of a funny circumstance so I totally get why this is confusing. So, I worked at a high school right after I graduated college. I worked there for a year and then resigned in order to pursue professional dancing. Now, the new teacher who has the role I had (dance and drill team) is on maternity leave so I am long term subbing back where I was a year ago. Kinda funny how that worked out! It has been so fun seeing some of my former students, walking the same halls, chatting with staff members that had grown to be my friends, and reliving those good moments!

2. Are you still dancing with the Mavs?

Unfortunately, no I am not! After one amazing season with the Mavs, I was not asked back to be part of that team. I had such an amazing time dancing for that season and will cherish those moments forever! Dancing for the Mavs was a dream I had ever since 8th grade, so being able to say that I achieved that goal is such an accomplishment!

3. Why were you in Birmingham, Alabama?

I went to go visit my boyfriend! Another life update; my boyfriend moved to Alabama. Thats a 9 1/2 hour drive from me…so weekend trips are generally out of the question. He moved the day after Labor Day, so it had been a little over a month since I had last seen him. Ideally, we would see each other once a month but plane tickets are expensive and he works on Saturdays. Never ever ever did I think I would be in a long distance relationship, but here we are! I definitely sympathize with those of you have are in them!

4. What’s your fitness routine?

I love this question!! It changes ALL the time. Currently, I am trying to develop a fitness routine and stick with it for 4 weeks and then reevaluate my goals and results.

Monday: Leg Day (weights)

Tuesday: Arm Day (weights)

Wednesday: Leg Day #2 (weights)

Thursday: Arm day #2 (weights)

Friday: Full Body weights & cardio

Saturday: rest day/day off

Sunday: cardio day

I also have been going in the sauna almost every time I workout. The Sauna is said to have many benefits for healing, flexibility, and preventing sickness. I can definitely testify that the sauna has made me feel amazing! I love just sweating it all out!

5. Do you teach dance? What classes?

YES! I get asked this a lot too…yes I teach dance! Aside from High School dance (subbing), I also work at a dance studio in the area. I choreograph for the company (high school age) and middle school jazz, hip hop, pom, and technique. I love it. Definitely have a lot of late nights..haha! I pretty much live in Lululemon.

6. Tips on Starting a blog

I am thinking of doing a whole blog post series on this because I get asked this a lot. For now, my biggest tip is to just start. Pick something you are passionate about and do that! Don’t compare yourself, stay true to YOU, and be passionate about the content you produce. Everything else will just fall in line.

7. How do you get your hair so voluminous?

We all know I could talk about hair ALLLL day…haha! When I want my hair extra big, I use an assortment of products. My go to ones are always some kind of volumizing/texture mouse to put at your root and throughout the hair when your hair is wet (the foam ones are my favorite..a little goes a long way). I let that sit in my hair for about 5-10 minutes before I start blow drying. I always blow dry my hair upside down to start getting the root to lift, and then I round brush it to smooth it out and have it lay perfectly. Then, once my hair is dry and has product in it to have a good hold, I tease it.

I actually have a youtube video up ALL about how I tease my hair! Click here to watch it. Super simple and easy to do it yourself!

8. What are your favorite stores to shop at? What stores do you trust?

I love this question! My favorites stores are Nordstrom, Abercrombie, Lululemon, Vici Dolls, and Express. There are tons of other stores that I love, but these 5 I KNOW that I can always trust that they will be good quality, shipping is fast and easy, and I won’t want to return the item…haha. Online shopping can be scary sometimes, but these stores have always gone above and beyond my expectation. They also always have DEALS.

That’s it for now!

I hope y’all enjoyed this little life update/q&a! I really do love sharing more about my personal life…sometimes I just forget to stop talking about fashion…haha! What do you wanna see next?
