Hello, darlings! This post is overdue, but I am finally here, recapping our mini vacation to Fredericksburg, Texas! I had never been here before this trip and it was super fun. I had absolutely no idea what to expect!
Fredericksburg is a cute town founded in 1846. It was settled by Germans, so the town has a lot of German culture flare to it. Most people go here because of all the amazing wine tasting you can go to. Fredericksburg is most known for the vast amount of vineyards… there are over 45! This is a popular spot for bachelorette parties, birthdays, retirement, or any fun celebration.
Where we stayed:
Fredericksburg does have a few hotels, but I think the most popular thing to do is to stay in an AirBnB. There are TONS to choose from and because there are so many tourists that visit, they all seem to be well kept and reliable. The one we stayed at, we could walk to the Main Street of Downtown Fredericksburg, which was super convenient. There are tons of shops and restaurants in the “downtown”.
Things to Do
Like I said earlier, there are TONS of cool things to do in Fredericksburg. Because of this, I am going to list what we did in order of best (my opinion!!) to last!
Enchanted Rock: If you are into walking, you will really like this! This is almost like a Fredericksburg MUST do. This hike is perfect for all levels of activity, too. If you are super adventurous, you can climb to the very top! If you are more chill, they have a “simpler” more level walk that you can take. Dogs are welcome on most parts of the trails, too. They recommend you get there ASAP in the morning to avoid crowds and, of course, the Texas heat! This was super cool, especially the sights!
Pacific War Museum: We did not get to go to this, BUT it looks super cool. This would be a great place to go if you are staying for more than 3 days OR if you are bringing family/friends who maybe don’t like to drink much. This museum has super great reviews. We drove past it and it looked really cool.
To Drink
Heath Sparkling Wines: Like Champagne? Like to feel fancy? This is for you! The grounds were SO well kept and super gorgeous. If you sign up for a tasting, you get to taste 4 of their sparkling wines, have a fun food pairing for each wine, and then you get to pick your favorite of the 4 and have an entire glass of it! Definitely worth the money. You also have the option of “becoming a member” where you basically just get discounted wine. The wine is SO good, you’ll be very happy with your experience. Unlike a lot of sparkling wine, Heath is super dry and not sweet.
Garrison Brothers Whiskey: This was super cool! When you hear Fredericksburg, you normally think of wine, but Garrison Brothers Whiskey is also located here! When you sign up for a tour (only $10), you get to see exactly how whiskey is made! Kinda cool if you have never seen it before. You will definitely want to wear comfy shoes because you are walking outside!
Becker Vineyards:This place was super cool!! I loved the atmosphere and just how chill it was. You could buy a tasting or just buy a bottle of wine and sit outside and take in the sights. It was super peaceful and everyone was beyond friendly. They have great wine, red and white! I think this vineyard is a great place to start your vacation. It is so relaxing and easy. You can just walk in and hang out so it is super NOT stressful!
To Eat:
Hill & Vine: We LOVED this place! We ate here on the last night and it was so good. The food was super fresh and there is something there for everyone. They had plates ranging from super health to hamburgers! I also loved the atmosphere. 10/10 recommend!
Vaudeville: This place is like a must-go-to place in Fredericksburg. It is super cool on the outside and the vibe is like….classy & fabulous. The food is more upscale, so definitely be ready for that. They also only serve dinner on the weekends (Friday & Saturday), but they have a great lunch menu, too! Highly recommend their cookies. Totally can split one…they are HUGE!!
Coffee Shops
Java Ranch Coffee: This place was super good. Honestly, when I first saw it I thought, “no”. I was envisioning some cute little cafe….this place is way more country hah! But, there coffee was super good (I got a hot mocha) and I had their chocolate croissant which was…..heavenly. I would go there again for sure. They also have this super cool Western mural, which is cool to look at. The theming is really well done on the inside, too!
Kaffee Haus: This place is cute, too. They have a little boutique store on the inside, too. I would probably rate their coffee a 3/5…tasted good but I like Starbucks better hah! I also got a chocolate croissant but they didn’t warm it up…. so yeah. It was good, but I would definitely recommend Java Ranch first. Super cute theming though!
And that’s it! Fredericksburg was a super cute place to visit. Definitely make a plan of some places you want to see to really make the most of your visit. Have you been to Fredericksburg?
