Post Vacation Brain is a REAL thing, and boy am I feeling it today! My boyfriend and I took a mini vacation to two new places (at least for me!). It was such a fun time. This was my first major road trip, ever. Andrew is always going on 10 hour road trips like it’s no big deal. For me, anything over 2 hours just seemed terribly exhausting, boring, and a complete waste of time. HA! After this trip, I can honestly say that road trips are actually fun! Especially when with good company.
New Orleans
To start off the trip, we decided to make a stop in a city I have always wanted to visit! We made sure to watch Princess and the Frog the night before leaving to get us in the NOLA spirit. Once we got to New Orleans, we went to our super cool hotel and looked around. We stayed at the Pontchartrain Hotel and it was beautiful! This hotel is super quirky and definitely made staying in NOLA for a night feel very authentic and cultured.
After checking out the hotel, we got ready and took a Street Car to Downtown NOLA for dinner. This was one of the coolest parts about New Orleans! I love how they still use the famous Street Car to get around. I felt like I was living in history…which for a history lover like me, it was just so magical!
We hopped off the Street Car right in the middle of Downtown and started walking through the crowded streets to our restaurant. We went to this yummy and fancy restaurant called Mr. B’s Bistro. It was so authentic to New Orleans culture, which is exactly what I wanted. I had the “famous” Gumbo, of course! It was such a neat little spot with a great atmosphere.
To end the night, we went up to our hotel’s famous Rooftop Bar! It was beautiful being able to see the NOLA skyline and all the gorgeous lights. One of my favorite views is the city skyline!
The following day, we went to Cafe du Monde, which apparently is one of the hottest spots for tourists and locals alike. They literally only serve Cafe au laits and beignets. BUT IT WAS SO YUMMY. Zero guilt after eating that. It is one of those must-go spots when visiting.
We then spend the rest of the morning exploring the National World War II Museum that was just a short walk over. Andrew loves history too, especially war history, so we had a blast learning more about WWII! I, of course, was mostly interested in seeing the clothes they wore and the different uniforms. He loved the planes.
Flora-Bama
WOW! Kenny Chesney was right, there is noting like the Flora-Bama. I had no idea what to expect. The sand is perfectly white, the ocean is clear and gorgeous, and everything about this spot is beautiful and relaxing. We met up with Andrew’s best friend and his wife, so that was super fun to get to hang out with friends. The whole trip was literally spent laying on a beach towel on the sand. I don’t think I did my hair ONCE all trip, which was so refreshing. I would literally wake up, work out, put on my swim suit, tan, shower, dinner, sleep. HA! It was amazing.
The place we stayed was right across from the famous Flora-Bama Yacht Club. We would just walk on over, which was so convenient.
One place we went to for dinner was called The Gulf. It was such a fun atmosphere and GOOD food. Light and refreshing; just what I like. And, again, an amazing view.
Two Piece Set from Runway Seven
For the last night, we decided to do something a little more fancy and go to a nicer restaurant. We went to this place called Cobalt. It was DELICIOUS and the view was stunning. We got these amaaaaazing drinks called Bushwackers. It’s basically a coffee/vanilla/chocolate milkshake with alcohol in it. It is a big deal at the Flora-Bama apparently, so of course we had to get some. SO good.

This vacation was such a fun one! I already miss throwing on my swimsuit and just sitting on the beach all day.
Pro Tip: For lunch, order Dominos Pizza for the beach. I don’t know why, but this was the most amazing meal. HA!
