Fall Trend Styling: Barn Jackets

“It’s officially fall” *please read that in the Gossip Girl voice* and Kelly is diving into the world of styling. It feels SO good to be back. I’m getting back into blogging. Yes, I know such an old word to use but the reality is, I LOVE it and it feels way more authentic than just posting on TikTok (which we still of course love). To get me back, I’m starting a styling series about Fall Fashion Trends.

Barn Jackets were huge last fall and again this year. I personally bought a Barn Jacket from Abercrombie last year and think it is just soooo cute; however, I have the hardest time styling it! I’ll try to plan my outfit around it and I always find myself in a style rut. This season, I’ve been playing with styling and creating my own take on this barn jacket trend. This post is hopefully helpful for you in styling your barn jacket this season, too!

Sweater + Skirt

Whether you have a thin sweater or a chunky knit, this combo is so fun. Especially when it’s FALL and you live in a warmer state. I know in Texas, it is currently 92 degrees. There is no way I could wear jeans yet! But, I love fall and am always cold inside, so this is a great layering piece for me.

I love adding either a chunky booty with the skirt or a tall boot to make this outfit just scream fall. But again, if it is a little warm where you live, a fun sneaker or chunky loafer is 10/10.

Casual/Realistic Outfit

Let’s be honest, I am wearing activewear 90% of the time. I am a full time dance choreographer & trainer, so I always have leggings on, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to look cute! Even just going to the grocery store…. leggings and a tank are my go to. Throw on your barn jacket and an easy sneaker and we have the trend, but made it wearable.

Feminine Lace

One of my favorite styling tips is using contrast/dichotomy in your outfit. The barn jacket is more on the masculine side, traditionally. Pairing a flowy-boho top (another fall fashion trend) or a lace skirt makes it feminine and draws interest into your outfit. Love this contrast in an outfit.

Basics + Jeans = perfect

I couldn’t do a barn jacket styling post without including JEANS! Jeans are a classic and of course would look so great with a barn jacket. Personally, I love a skinny jean tucked into a tall boot with this jacket. SO chic. You could also do a slimming boot cut jean, booties, and a top. Classic, timeless, and so perfect for your every day lifestyle.

What do you think? What is your favorite way to style your barn jacket?
