Life Lately / 2022-2023

I was looking back at some old blog posts this month and was shocked to see that my last post was the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July of 2022. It has been almost one year since I have posted, or done really anything related to blogging. In a way, it feels like I “lost” part of myself this year. So…where have I been?

As many of you know, teaching and working in education has always been a big part of my life and career. I have now taught at 3 high schools! After working at 2 schools, I thought that I was done with that phase of life; however, an opportunity presented itself and I jumped…head first. I took a job as a Head Drill Team Director at a high school about 30 minutes from where I live. End of July, right after the NSALE, things started getting so chaotic! It feels so good to be “back”, chatting with you.

July-August 2022

I took a new job AND we bought our very first home. It was a crazy few weeks. Not only was I trying to get ready for a new school year with a new team, I was also trying to figure out the whole home-ownership thing. Oh and… can’t forget that our little kitty was so stressed from the move she had a gland burst. Always fun… I think my husband did most of the moving in, unpacking, and organizing. Thank goodness for him.

August was super rocky for me. I was jugging freelance choreography, having my own team at a new school district for me, and navigating a home purchase. I worked 28 out of 31 days in August. Not kidding….

September-December 2022

Things were literally crazy. I don’t know how else to describe my Fall Semester. Andrew and I went to Vegas for the first time together and it was such a blast. I’ll be writing a Vegas post soon… since I did not do one earlier! We also went to Branson around Thanksgiving to do a photoshoot for the company he works for!

At school, I was dealing with some hardcore parents. Honestly, I would use the term “bully” to describe them, but I don’t want to come off dramatic. I’m not sure if it was post-covid or what… but I’ve never experienced such rude parents. I truly lost myself during these few months. All I did was work. When I was not working, I thought about work. Fashion and shopping just didn’t matter anymore. Hard to believe but, I stopped working out! I did not have the time, energy, or place to do anything for myself. During this season, I truly felt like a robot just going through the motions. My relationship with God took a plunge, too. Literally, nothing about myself seemed like… “me”. I felt like a different person.

On a fun note, we did get to go to a couple of weddings! One was in Springfield, MO and it was super gorgeous outside. I wore a green dress with a low back and a bow. The other wedding was in Branson, MO and was a New Year’s Eve wedding. I wore this shimmery jumpsuit that felt super fitting for the occasion.

January-May 2023

This was crazy season (again) for dance team life. At the beginning of the year, we were entering contest season, so it was pretty much all-consuming. After contest season, we went straight into Spring Show and tryouts. Spring Show was absolutely amazing. The growth I got to see with every dancer was just outstanding. It reminded me of why I do what I do.

This past year was filled with life lessons. I am so beyond excited to get back to “me” and follow God’s path for my life. If you read this post, thank you! Thank you for not leaving when I gave you every reason to peace out! Thank you for supporting me and valuing my blog as a place to find deals, fashion trends, and hopefully, inspiration. The best is yet to come.
