Disneyland Trip 2020

Wow! I feel like I haven’t been able to write a blog post in forever! Definitely not starting 2020 off on a good note! BUT, my mom, sister, and I did go to Disneyland in California to celebrate my mom turning 65 and it was so special!

DISNEYLAND VLOG

Day 1

We got up super early for our 7AM flight and headed straight to my Grandma’s house in the Los Angeles area. It was so nice to start our trip off by hanging out with her. We stopped by our favorite coffee spot, The Coffee Bean, and got the most amazing Vanilla Cold Brews (way better than Starbucks, wow), then got to her house at like 11am! After that, we went straight to the Disneyland Hotel.

Y’all, the hotel was BEAUTIFUL! Far exceeded my expectations. We were greeted by such nice workers and even pin trading stations. The best perk about this hotel is that it is only a 10 minute walk to get inside the park! SO EASY.

Day 2: Disneyland

Our first day at Disney!! It was also my mom’s birthday so we thought the BEST (and truly only) way to spend the day would be in Disneyland itself! We quickly jammed on over to the park and had a perfect day!

We tried Mickey beignets for the first time and holy wow they were amazing. We also got the famous Mint Julep drinks and they were really refreshing. I felt like Tiana, which y’all know I love.

We ate lunch at the restaurant inside Pirates of the Caribbean called Blue Bayou. SO yummy and New Orleans inspired. They even gave my mom the yummiest surprise birthday dessert! I had a really good jambalaya and my sister’s chicken was AMAZING. Highly recommend eating at that restaurant.

After our day in the park, we explored more of Downtown Disney and had dinner at our hotel restaurant called Trader Sam’s. SUPER good, tropical inspired food and amazing cocktails.

Day 3: California Adventure

For our last day at park, we went to California Adventure. Crazy fact; we have never been there before but have been to Disneyland tons of times! It was really fun and the Incredicoaster ride was phenomenal, but I definitely like Disneyland better.

We had Buzz Lightyear churros that were super yummy and went on the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride that was so cool. Cars land was closed while we were there…so that was a bummer, but everything else was really neat.

For dinner, we tried out the famous Earl of Sandwich restaurant in Downtown Disney. I was skeptical at first because why would people be raving about a sandwich place, but WOW it was amazing. We all got sandwiches and soup and it might have been our favorite meal while there.

Day 4: Going Home

Our last day! We woke up and checked out of the hotel (always so sad) and headed down to my mom’s parent’s house. Totally shameless; we grabbed Coffee Bean on the way over there and got the Vanilla Cold Brew again. We were able to spend a good amount of time with my other grandparents before having to head back to Texas that night. CRAZY PART: Y’all…our flight was super delayed because they couldn’t find the co-pilot. We didn’t end up getting into Dallas until 2 AM!!! So late.

Take Aways and Disneyland Tips

  1. Get the Disneyland app. This helps you plan your trip, book fast passes, and look at wait times (y’all saw us use this in my YouTube video).
  2. Stay on property. It might be a little more expensive, but it is worth every penny. The ability to walk everywhere and not have to pay for an uber or taxi (which of course, adds up) makes it worth it 1000%. Not to mention, all the Mickey details in the room and pin trading in the lobby really make it a good Disney experience.
  3. Go early and take breaks. The park is the BEST right when it opens. We always aim to get there 15 minutes before the park opens that way we can get through security, take cute pictures, and then head over to where the first ride will be for us. Normally, we can get in 4 or 5 rides before 10am! Then, we like to take a snack break to avoid hangry-ness. This allows us to try a Disney treat without the rush of crowds. After lunch, when the parks get insane, we normally go back to our hotel for a few hours, pin trade, shop, relax, then head back out around 4pm.
  4. Go during the week. If you can, the crowds at Disneyland are waaaay more manageable during the week than on a weekend. We really started noticing the crowds pick up Friday night.
  5. Pack layers. California is way different than Orlando. Y’all, we were SO COLD. Check the temperatures before you go, and then pack another layer just in case. 60 degrees in Texas is still kind of humid….60 degrees in California is freezing! HAH!

Disneyland vs. Disney World

The biggest difference from the two parks in my opinion was the size and capacity. In Disney World, we normally like to stay at least 4 days because there are 4 different parks and there is always so much to do at Magic Kingdom…we never want to leave! However, at Disneyland, while Magic Kingdom was fun, California Adventure was a little different. We were wrapping up our time at the park at like…11am! I would recommend doing both parks in one day by getting a park hopper. Park Hoppers allow you to go to both parks in one day, where a normal ticket only allows entrance into one park per day. The parks are directly across from one another, so it is a 2 second walk to each park. This makes it really easy to just hop on over to the other park.

I hope this post was fun and helpful if you are planning a Disney trip, soon. As always, thanks for stopping by!
