Keratin Fusion Bond Hair Extensions 101

It’s been four months since I got my first keratin fusion bond hair extensions put in! If you follow me, you know I’m very experienced in the hair extensions field. From clips ins, tape ins, and finally micro beads… I’ve done it all!

If you haven’t heard of Keratin Fusion Bond hair extensions, they need to be on your radar. Seamlessly blend into your hair, they last 4-6 months with no move-ups, no fuss, no drama, just great hair! I had been eyeing this hair extension method for years. I love how natural they look and how low-maintenance they can be. There is a ton that we can unpack with hair extensions, so if I don’t answer a questions you have, email me!!

DFW Ladies: I went to Hair By Vivian for my extensions. She specializes in so many types of hair extensions (although my favorite kind are the fusions/Great Lengths Extensions!!) to fit your needs and hair type. Definitely book a consultation with her if you are even a little bit interested. She does a fantastic job!

  • hair style lasts days
  • adds volume/thickness
  • taking out extensions takes 40 minutes!
  • Really have to brush hair root-to-tip to ensure no tangling happens
  • 100% must tie your hair up in a loose bun to sleep to prevent tangling if you are a heavy sleeper!
  • That’s it…

The Process

Hair is divided into sections and the stylist will use a tool to pull hair through. We cut most of the pieces in half to create an even smaller bond. My hair density is pretty fine, so we made sure that the extensions would not damage my hair by being too heavy. Because I needed more length on the sides, we added 3-4 rows of about 5 extensions per row to add just a little length and overall thickness. My stylist was able to line up the extensions pretty seamlessly with my highlights, making the blend absolute perfection. We also ordered the rooted blonde extension, making the bond virtually invisible next to my hair.

With this method, it is actually encouraged to brush hair root to tip. So my brushing habits did not change. I used a wet brush when brushing wet hair and a boar bristle brush when brushing dry hair.
