Our Honeymoon

Our honeymoon!! We had such an amazing time in Jamaica and I am so excited to share our honeymoon adventure with you!

Wow! What a crazy few weeks it has been. From wedding planning, to getting married, going on our honeymoon, and now life after The Big Day! These past few days have been so great.

Andrew and I had an AMAZING time on our honeymoon. We went to Jamaica and it was just beautiful. This was both of our first times going to Jamaica (my first time out of the country!!).

Where We Stayed

When it came to deciding where to go for our honeymoon, we both knew we wanted to go somewhere we have both never been before to truly do something new together. We had both heard of Sandals, but I was a little skeptical. Sometimes, All-inclusive resorts get a bad rep. We did tons of researching and decided that Sandals looked like the best spot. Our honeymoon was an absolute dream at Sandals and I couldn’t recommend it enough!

We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay, the very first Sandals resort! This property was on our top list because it was recently renovated and looked stunning. I also thought it was really cool to go to the Sandals resort that started it all. Sandals Montego Bay is also less than a 10 minute drive from the airport and I knew I wouldn’t want to waste ANY time after our flight. I wanted to start our vacation immediately, and we sure did!

What We Did

When it comes to honeymoon vacations, there’s normally two option. One: Explore. Two: Relax and do nothing. We relaxed and did nothing. HA! We had such an amazing time just going down to the pool and relaxing, hanging out in the ocean for hours, and then eating all the food we wanted.
I am SO happy we chose to do an all-inclusive resort because it was so nice not having to worry about paying for things. I think collectively we had like 10 drinks a day…haha!

Day One:

The flight to Jamaica from DFW was under 4 hours…amazing. We landed at around 3pm and went straight to the resort. Our bags were quickly delivered to our room and we instantly got our swimsuits on and headed out to the beach. My first drink at the resort was this yummy drink called a Miami Vice. SO good. It’s half a Pina colada and half a strawberry daiquiri. We grabbed our drinks and explored the resort. They have so many different restaurants and bars to choose from so it really made our exploring fun! We ended the night hanging out at the over water bar and then hot tubbing.

Day Two:

We woke up bright and early and grabbed some lattes to start off the day! Our hotel room had a gorgeous balcony (with a soaking tub) and chairs to watch the sun rise. I don’t know what it is about the Caribbean, but the sunrises and sunsets are just stunning. After our coffees we put on our swimsuits and went down for breakfast!

THE CUTEST THING about Sandals Montego Bay is that they have beach cats! I’m sure most of you saw on my instagram stories, but they had at least 6-8 beach cats that would just roam around. We fed them some smoked salmon and they became our best friends. So cute.

Our resort had a couple different pools, but we stayed by the one with the cool swim up bar! We lounged around for a bit until we got hungry for lunch. After lunch, we grabbed some lounge chairs for the beach and swam in the ocean. The water is SO clear and beautiful there, too!

Day Three:

Our super amazing butler took this photo at our Candlelight Dinner!

For day three, we decided to rent a cabana. They’re actually IN the ocean….so cool. We had breakfast served in the cabana and it was the perfect way to start the day. We also had our Candlelight Dinner this night and it was definitely the highlight of the trip! We had a private dinner over the water and the food was so yummy.

Day Four:

Day four looked a lot like the other days….are you catching a pattern? We got some breakfast, fed the cats, and lounged around in the sun all day! We even found some adorable parrots on property! To end the night, we went to this yummmmmy restaurant called Oleander’s and of course, I wore white again haha!

Day Five:

Our last day! Always sad to leave such a gorgeous spot. For our last day here, we rented a cabana again. The cabanas were seriously so much fun! We went to a fun Tokyo restaurant for dinner and then grabbed a milkshake for dessert. Andrew and I also tried our first Bob Marley drinks…when in Jamaica, ya know? It was okay….but definitely fun!

Last Day:

My birthday!! Kinda sad to leave paradise on my birthday, but that’s just how it worked out. I woke up early and grabbed us our final lattes. Then we got breakfast and packed up our bags. We went to the beach one last time and got our last Pina colada haha! After that, we checked out of our room, got some lunch, and flew back to Texas!

I’m obsessed with my pink bag! It’s like a Chanel dupe!! You can you code Kelly10 to save on yours! Grab yours here

We had such an amazing honeymoon. If you are planning a vacation, I couldn’t recommend Sandals enough!! Here are some quick tips if you are planning a vacation of your own!

  1. Do Club Mobay. This is an additional expense, but it makes going through customs in Jamaica SO FAST and so easy. We got off our flight and were already at our resort in under 45 minutes. They also have a lounge area you can sit at while your bags get off the plane and they gave us drinks and food. Such a nice way to kick off your vacation.
  2. Go All-inclusive: Normally, I don’t like things like this because I normally like to split meals or save where I can. However, it was so nice to not worry about how much we were “spending”. Want another Pina colada? No problem! Still hungry? No problem! After all the planning that went into the wedding, it was so amazing to not care about anything!
  3. Don’t pack your curling iron: I’m laughing at myself. Y’all, I didn’t do my hair or makeup ONE DAY while in Jamaica. I packed all this stuff expecting to do my hair/makeup, but I ended up not doing anything! The beach waves were REAL and the natural makeup….a must.
  4. Plan our your excursions/extras: The cabanas and candlelight dinner were not part of the “all-inclusive” package. I did my research and they looked like something I did NOT want to miss out on..so we planned for it! It can be really overwhelming when you show up to a resort and have no idea what to expect. Plan out what you want your vacation to look like so you can focus on having fun…not stressing!
  5. Make Friends: Andrew and I made like 4 couple friends while there! Some were on their honeymoon, some just craved a fun vacation. Everyone was so friendly and it was super fun to hang out with some new friends!
  6. Take Photos: I know this sounds crazy because I’m always snapping pictures, but on vacation I tend to forget or feel awkward or whatever. I wish I had more photos of us together from our honeymoon! TAKE YOUR PICTURES so you don’t live in regret-ville.

Stay tuned for a Honeymoon packing guide!
