‘Tis the season…to be traveling! Anyone else? Traveling is so much fun, but it can be a pain when you forget something or you wish you had something. I don’t get to travel very often due to work and of course it is expensive, but when I do, I always have these essentials to keep me happy and my trip running smoothly!
1. Headphones
This might be a no-brainer, but I’ve got to have my headphones. I have the Beats by Dre (haha!) and I love them. They are not only great for working out, but they are perfect for airplanes or road trips. Block out the noise and just hear your music. In style. They’re great.
But whatever headphones you have, this is always a must. There is nothing worse than forgetting these!! Been there, done that and it is miserable.
2. Snacks
I’m laughing when I type this! Yes, I eat a lot. I probably should scale back on eating…but maybe after my trip lol. I need snacks. I am literally always hungry. Actually, as I am creating this post… I am starving. Snacks always come in handy because there is nothing worse than being hangry while traveling with loved ones. Anyone else relate to this?
My favorite things to pack are trail mix (I like to make my own with my favorite things inside!), protein bars, or dried fruit. YUM!
3. Cell Phone Charger
My phone dies so quickly and I have no idea why. I can not be on it at all and it will sky rocket down to 40%! It is so annoying. So, I can’t go anywhere now without having my cell phone charger in my purse.
4. Water
Water is so important. Staying hydrated, especially on an airplane, is key! I always have a water bottle on me (empty if going to an airport!!!) that way I can refill it numerous times and not have to buy a water bottle constantly. I’ve also found that sometimes when you are in a hotel, all you want is water…but there is none. So, what I typically do is at a restaurant, I’ll order lots of water and then also fill my water bottle (that holds 30 oz) up so that I have water throughout the night and into the morning before breakfast.
5. Cardigan
You never know when you are going to be cold. Even if you are in Hawaii. I have learned my lesson the hard way. Always bring a light sweater or something in case you get cold! Preferably in a color that will go with everything you own! My favorite is grey.
6. Comfy, but cute, shoes
There is nothing worse than traveling in stilettos. I don’t understand why/how some women do this. WHY kill your feet at an airport? Also…why walk on the floor during security BARE FOOT?! EWWWW I can’t handle that. So gross. Not a fan. Wear socks. Even if you are going on a buisness trip….bring a change of shoes with you. I just can’t handle that. And if you say that you can’t fit it in your bag, wear leggings to the airport and now your outfit can double as your workout outfit for after your meeting. Boom.
So, yes, I always wear sneakers. But that doesn’t mean my outfit has to suffer, style wise. Athlesiure wear is all the rage right now.
7. Beauty Bag of EssentialsΒ
If you know me, you know that I always have a little bag in my purse filled with my favorite lip products and mini hand sanitizers (sorry, I know I’m crazy). When I travel, I like to have a bag on hand with a mini lotion, lip products, hand sanitizer (airports are gross), extra hair ties, a sample size of perfume, and maybe some foundation. OH, and of course I have a hair brush in my purse. Girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!
8. Have a POA
Have a Plan of Action! This is something that I learned while on Spirit Squads at Baylor and it honestly makes trips SO much more enjoyable and fun. Having a brief itinerary or list of things you want to do and places you want visit really helps. Ever go somewhere and feel so overwhelmed with all the new things and have no idea where to Β start? Do your research beforehand and figure out what places sound like fun to visit. No need to plan your day out hour by hour (leave room for spontaneity), but a short list of places you are going to eat or of people you are going to see will really help you utilize your time while on vacation.
