Teacher Diaries: Back to School Necessity

Hey lovelies! I hope everyone’s summer has been wonderful so far. I know my summer has been flying by! I can’t believe it is already the middle of July. School is starting back up in just about a month (CRAZZZZY!!).

As many of you know, I have spent my whole life thus far (or…maybe just 15 years of it) loving all things “school”. I was that kid that couldn’t wait for the bus to pick me up in elementary school so I could get to class, lay out my folders and pencils on my perfectly organized desk, and read a textbook. Yup…. I know. I had always wanted to be a teacher. It was just such a passion of mine and the thought of having my own classroom and educating students would make me so stinkin’ excited!

This past May, I completed my first year as a teacher! I had such a wonderful time teaching at a public high school where I taught all levels of Dance and was the assistant drill team director. Now, I am currently teaching dance at a local dance studio!

So… let’s face it, even though I graduated college, I’ll be going “back to school” in August for a long time to come..and I’m not complaining! Especially when it comes to going back to school shopping! I remember one of the first things on the “to-buy” list was always a new backpack. Good backpacks can be SO hard to find. Vera Bradley is like…the epitome of amazing backpacks. I remember in high school and in college always being so envious of all of my friends that had a Vera Bradley bag! I have about 5 duffle bags from this store, but this is my first backpack…and oh my goodness it did NOT disappoint!

This backpack is perfect for teachers and students alike. I love carrying tote bags around, but they can be so terrible for your spinal health and shoulders. Wearing a backpack is way more practical and better for your body. This backpack also has legit SO many pockets, zippers, compartments….. it is crazy. There is a special compartment for your laptop, the main compartment for all your big items, another compartment for even MORE things, and then multiple smaller pockets for your phone, pencils, flash drives, literally everything.

Another MUST for me in a backpack is for it to have some good/reliable water bottle holders on the outside. This backpack rocks because it has two! One pocket actually can unzip to fit any sized water bottle while the other pocket fits a regular sized bottle. I always try to stay hydrated throughout the day (my students can attest to this) so having multiple places to put all my water bottles is extremely important.

So…. here’s a super quick breakdown of WHY this backpack is awesome.

  • Lots of compartments and pockets: I tend to over pack..haha!
  • BRIGHT interior: This makes it so easy to find anything. No more digging in your backpack for hours trying to find that pack of gum!
  • Durable: You need to invest in your backpack. This thing goes through so much during the day, the last thing you want is for your strap to break.
  • 2 water bottle holders:Β  Gotta stay hydrated.
  • Water Repellent: It’s raining? Your laptop won’t be ruined!
  • Laptop Compartment: Keeps everything so much more organized!
  • CUTE

The Lighten Up Grand Backpack comes in so many different color/pattern options, but I chose the one in Falling Flowers Neutral. I’m a neutral girl….we all know this. Haha! If you haven’t checked out Vera Bradley before, you need to! Before the Back to School rush sets in, go ahead and check that first item off your list. Like I said earlier, I have so many of their tote/duffle bags and I love them all!

Vera Bradley also featured me on their blog! Check out that blog post here!

What gets you most excited for going back to school?!

Thank you Vera Bradley for collaborating with me on this post.
