30 Days of NO HEAT

Alright guys, here we go again… I’m doing no heat on my hair for 30 days and I hope you join me! Hair growth has been such a big deal for me these past 2 years. I feel like I have tried everything imaginable to get my hair to grow and be healthy again. I did no heat in August and I actually did no heat on my hair for 80 days. 80 DAYS. I was shocked by my perseverance. At the end of my journey, I actually didn’t even want to use heat on my hair (even though… I did!).

Benefits:

  • Less Heat Damage on hair.. of course
  • Learn to LOVE your natural hair
  • Hair has a chance to go back to its natural shape instead of us always manipulating it to look different
  • Less time doing your hair every day
  • Builds confidence in your NATURAL state
  • A chance to experiment with new hair styles and be creative
  • Encourages hair growth and less breakage*

My Hair Journey

If you have been following me on social media, you know that I have been on a 2 year hair journey to get my hair BACK to its long, bouncy state. With my years of dancing (college and pro), I severely damaged my hair. With all the bleach, teasing, heat tools, extensions…. yeah I put my hair through a LOT. I got married and my hair was SO long and I was so obsessed with it…but I noticed a lot of split ends. So, after we tied the knot, I waited a few months and then went to the hair salon and had her cut 4-5 inches off. My hair was still long, but just healthier on the ends. Perfect, right? This was December 2019.

Well, flash forward to March 2020, we all started staying home and not doing anything! I wasn’t using heat on my hair and I hadn’t colored my hair since October 2019… so I was being super good! But, this is when I started to really notice my hair not growing. Now, I noticed some craaaazy roots so I knew my hair was growing, but the length was getting shorter and shorter… a big sign that my hair was just breaking off at the end.

From March-May, I rarely used heat, I did all the hair masks (Olaplex, Moroccan Oil, etc), massaged my scalp… you name it, I did it! But, nothing happened to my hair.

Then in June 2020, I started working at a new high school where I was gone from my house 12+ hours a day, I commuted 45 minutes. I taught a subject I didn’t really care for, and I was constantly tired and not enjoying life. I loved my students…. but not my atmosphere. That definitely didn’t help my hair…

So, in May 2021, I resigned from that and fully started my Freelance Career (which I LOVE). In August 2021, I did my first HEATLESS 80 day journey. I didn’t really notice my hair getting any longer, but hey it was no heat! That had to be helping at least a little.

December 2021, my sister gave me a little trim and this is when I really started to see progress. My underneath layers of my hair had been sooo short and prone to breakage, but now they were long, strong, and even!! IT HAD to be working! While my hair is really only a half an inch to an inch longer than it was in March 2020, it is visibly more bouncy, soft, and THICKER. SUCCESS!

So here we are, about to be April 2022. My hair is STILL on the process of growing, mending, and getting healthy. So, I’m doing another 30 days of no heat to kick things up a notch. I will be documenting my experience for you, too. I hope you join me in this! Even if you just try less heat for 30 days…. I promise it helps!

I have been measuring my hair. When I started this process (March 2021) my hair from ear down was 12 inches. Currently, it is measuring at 14 inches! My goal is 15 or 16 inches.

Products I’m Using:

  • Unite Shampoo: Lathers really nicely and makes my hair and scalp feel squeaky clean! I am super picky about shampoos and this one is awesome.
  • Unite Conditioner: A little bit goes a long way and it leaves my hair feeling hydrated and strong.
  • Unite Purple Shampoo: If you have any highlights in your hair, you need this. I leave it on for no longer than one minute every few weeks and it has made my hair so nice and toned.
  • Leave in Conditioner: I spray this on my hair after the shower to help detangle and add more hydration. IT ROCKS
  • Hair Oil: I have been using this hair oil for 2 months now and it is a total game changer. My hair looks and feels 100x better than before I started using this. I put a few drops in my hair after the shower and any time I need a little refresh. Unlike most hair oils, this doesn’t just coat your hair and then rinses out. This actually goes deep into your hair follicle to HEAL it. Use this for my ladies that are NOT blonde!
  • Treatment Mask: This helps repair damaged hair, a must for anyone trying to get healthy hair again.
  • Volumizing Spray: When it comes to air drying your hair, this works wonders. My hair is typically fine and flat, so this adds texture without needing heat
  • Texture Spray: Another must for no heat, this adds texture and style to heatless har
  • Dry Shampoo: I wash my hair every 3-4 days typically, so after day 2, I like to use a little bit of dry shampoo. This product is my favorite brand that I always go back to.
